The immortal son of Vayu and the greatest devotee of Lord Rama, Hanuman blessed the Pandavas and resided upon Arjuna's banner during the Kurukshetra War. Possessing immeasurable strength, divine wisdom, and boundless devotion, he remains one of the most revered and powerful beings in Hindu tradition.

Biography

Hanuman is one of the few heroes whose greatness bridges both the Ramayana and the Mahabharata without merging their stories. In the Ramayana, he is the incomparable servant of Lord Rama, whose courage, wisdom, and devotion become the measure by which all devotion is judged. The Mahabharata remembers him not as a conqueror seeking glory, but as an immortal guardian whose presence protects the cause of dharma. During the Pandavas' exile, Bhima, another son of Vayu, encounters an aged monkey lying across his path. Unable to move even the monkey's tail, Bhima realizes he is standing before Hanuman himself. The meeting humbles Bhima and teaches that true strength is guided by restraint and wisdom rather than pride. Before the Kurukshetra War, Hanuman grants Arjuna a blessing. He promises to reside upon the banner of Arjuna's chariot as Kapi Dhvaja, filling the battlefield with his mighty roar and strengthening the resolve of the Pandava army. Throughout the war, the monkey emblem upon Arjuna's flag becomes a visible sign of divine protection. Hanuman never fights as an ordinary warrior in the Mahabharata. His greatest victories are won through counsel, blessings, and unwavering devotion. His strength remains immeasurable, yet he uses it only when righteousness demands. Across generations, he endures as the immortal servant whose loyalty to Rama became an eternal source of protection for all who walk the path of dharma.

Origin

Hanuman is born to Anjana through the divine grace of Vayu, the wind god. From childhood he displays extraordinary strength and receives blessings from the gods, ensuring that he will live as one of the Chiranjeevis, the immortals who remain in the world through the ages. After serving Lord Rama in the Ramayana, Hanuman continues to dwell upon the earth. In the Mahabharata, he blesses his half-brothers Bhima and Arjuna, eventually taking his place upon Arjuna's banner as Kapi Dhvaja during the Kurukshetra War.

Personality

Hanuman unites limitless power with complete humility. He possesses the strength to shake mountains, yet bows before Lord Rama with folded hands. Wise, compassionate, fearless, and utterly free from pride, he proves that devotion is greater than victory and service greater than fame.
