The Story

They called him suta-putra — charioteer's son — every time he picked up a bow. He was the eldest Pandava and never sat at their table. He was the Sun's child and died in the mud. He was offered an empire and chose the man who gave him a crown when the world gave him nothing. On the seventeenth day at Kurukshetra, his chariot wheel sank into the earth. He stepped down to lift it — and in that moment both curses came due. He forgot the Brahmastra. The ground held his wheel. He asked for the pause that the codes of war allow to an unarmed man. It was not given. The arrow that found him was fired by his own brother, who did not know it, on the counsel of a god who did.

Powers

Kavacha & Kundala

Divine armour and earrings fused to his body at birth, making him invulnerable to any weapon — until he gave them away.

Vasavi Shakti

Indra's infallible spear, granted in exchange for the armour. It never misses — but can be used only once.

Brahmastra

The ultimate celestial weapon, learned from Parashurama — and lost to his curse at the moment of greatest need.

Surya's Blessing

As the Sun's son, his radiance grows at midday; his aim is truest when the sun stands highest.

Abilities

Peerless Archery

Widely held to be Arjuna's equal — and by some counts, his superior — with the bow Vijaya.

Daanveer (The Great Giver)

Bound by a vow never to refuse a request made at his morning prayer. It is the source of both his glory and his ruin.

Chariot Mastery

Raised among charioteers, he reads the ground and the horses better than any king born to a throne.

Timeline

  1. Birth
    A Child of the Sun

Kunti invokes Surya; Karna is born with divine armour and set adrift on the river.

  2. Youth
    Radheya, the Charioteer's Son

Raised by Adhiratha and Radha. His skill outgrows his station — and the world never forgives him for it.

  3. Training
    The Curse of Parashurama

He learns the Brahmastra under a false identity. When discovered, Parashurama curses him to forget it when he needs it most.

  4. The Tournament
    Crowned King of Anga

Barred from duelling Arjuna for his birth, he is made a king by Duryodhana in a single, life-defining gesture.

  5. The Bargain
    Indra's Deception

Disguised as a brahmin, Indra begs for the kavacha and kundala. Karna cuts them from his own flesh and gives them away.

  6. The Offer
    Krishna's Secret

On the eve of war, Krishna reveals Karna is the eldest Pandava and offers him the throne. He refuses — and chooses Duryodhana.

  7. Kurukshetra
    The Sinking Wheel

His chariot wheel sinks into the earth. Both curses land at once. Unarmed, he asks for a pause — and Arjuna's arrow finds him.

Collector Notes

The First Edition Karna is the chase card of the Mahabharata Saga set. Look for the gold rainbow holo running diagonally through the solar disc — reprints use a flat silver foil. Corner wear shows quickly on the black core, so sleeve immediately.
